i guess i'm back in town, ready for interspersed linkage?

the rundown on san francisco goes like this:

sunday: woke up quick, at about noon, just thought that i had'ta be in compton soon...

530ish wakeup, finish packing and then ms. coworker gets there and we hit up the airport and pretty much get right on the plane and go. we take a cab from sfo to the hotel, friggin nice, really really nice. check the bags and go hit the town for a bit and go to virgin recordstore to have a citizen cake satellite sandwich. Ms Coworker had the aptly named "best cheese sandwich in the world." Then confirmed that it in fact was. We hit up
MOMA and the alexander girard was damn cool. Quick shoot over to H&M for me, and we had to be back by 3 to rehearse our boss' act and then head up and go get ready. fit into a tux after a barely warm shower and hit the penthouse room for cocktails. then it was downstairs for a long and drawn out bit of awards and gladhanding and more booze, that ended and then my evening ended turbulently with others and I changed and did a walk from Knob Hill to Presidio. Considering it was all downhill, it was aight. I hit up the Palace of Fine Arts This one and chilled there in the rotunda for a while then walked the marina back to Ghiradelli Square until i got to van ness and looked up. i was still a bit drunk and hepped up on red bull and still didn't want to tackle this friggin hill, it was huge. HUGE. I took a $4 cab up the hill in minutes and crashed out.

Monday morning went aight other than my slight hangover and a clearup of events. worked most of the day and played solitaire on the pod for hours without winning. We had a tiki event that night that we ditched cause we didn't care about getting free hangover causers or the overtime. We instead walked around town looking for something to eat and decided after much searching that we'd hit a store that we saw and liked cause of the sign. After asking a doorman to another hotel and finding out they did only breakfast we decided to check it out anyways and found that they have a really good menu for dinner. Sears fine food has some DAMN FINE FOOD. It was one of the most tasty and enjoyable restaurant experiences i have ever had. the staff kicked ass, the exec chef came out and talked to us at length while we lauded her mad skillz and writing up a hearty thank you on some paper. they brought us desserts (not charged for them either) and we drank some fine cocktails and closed the place down, but not before purchasing some fine tshirts. it was good, seriously good. check it, i dare you.

tuesday we got up hit breakfast and i decided to skip out on the meetings and go shopping at the h&m, and having to walk up the hill in my crap ass steve madden shoes which i had finally purchased some insoles for so that my feet wouldn't swell anymore on the hills when the shit ass sole would bunch up at my toes. don't buy them, they blow. got back in time for lunch to appear like i had been there and found all the other people that had the same idea. we finished up by all 200+ watching an olympian from the 84 mens gymnastics team do a motivational speech including demonstrations on a pommel? horse. it was cool but i can't help but think of how much it cost to pay him, fly him up there and shack him up in a suite. I won't go into detail about the LAME ass gift the owner of my company gave him but I'll just say if i got it, i'd toss it or white elephant it to some poor soul.

that was the end of the meetings and we were there until 9pm so we walked down to city hall and went to Citizen Cake which until now was my favorite restaurant in SF. It was aight. not worth that much money, but tasty, good scotch and damn good pastries to take home. Cabbed it back, picked up our bags and took off for the airport for stank shoe removal fun before we sat in the terminal and waited until we heard last call for our flight by our names as they had been calling and we hadn't been listening. Quick flight back and some joyous dog love, then crashing. Yesterday at work blew, nobody was in the mood and we were all pretty useless. Today i was much more productive. aight i'm out.

cause you paid too much for those teef

wooooooooooo-who. who's woo-in not me i tell you

so if anyone knows any agencies that are hiring around here or abroad for whatever purpose i'd like to know. This is just a cry for help. i didn't get fired or anything but no matter what anyone says to assure me whoever the fuck up there (where ever, whomever there is) that my job is secure, I don't feel it. It's not the way a design dept is supposed to run and i'm tired of it. people close to me are buried and constantly unhappy which no fault to them but i can't say it doesn't wear on me. i crank out good shit and theres little if no recognition to the pretty stuff before some idiot kicks it back and says they want it to look like crap. and nobody including my boss who doesn't kick things up that i do to get approval lets it sit and lets me kick out crap before the execs say why can't we have this, which i already made and my direct report killed saying it wasn't a good idea.

either way i'm venting i don't want a free trip to frisco so i can sit through the same damn meetings i've already sat through cause i'm not going to get to SEE sf. i have to wear a goddamned penguin suit which i swore i wouldn't do again and i have to sit through bs for 3 days and miss my dog. blah blah blah, thanks for reading.

the weekend in review

okay, for the most part i want a do over on the weekend. weekend redux, part deux, return of the weekend. whatever.

friday was spent at home without much fanfare. Saturday i screwed around while ms. sick was pitying herself and not allowing me to tend to her. Saturday night was a dinner at tokyo delves for the 20th time to my chagrin. No good sushi, too much booze, and the company was suprising. It went alright other than the post dinner phone call to ms. pity. It didn't go well and I should've stayed home to tend to her. Didn't sleep much and ended up going grocery shopping at 7am sunday morning. Met up with ms. stinkysink midafternoon and cleared things up. We stayed in and SHE WATCHED THE NEW ENGLAND SAN DIEGO GAME!!! until I got to go see B&Bmillahs at fathers office. I miss them dearly, DEARLY. They are two of the best people I know next to 4 others, (you know who you are and you read this, i think) but I love them like real family. Unfortunately, i felt like shit and was really fatigued and had to cut out prematurely, seriously, i was tired. I knocked out quickly and woke up to go home then to work. Fortunately i missed out on a lame ass company breakfast....damn, and the absentia wasn't even planned.

Good thing is the black tie that we have to go to this weekend in san francisco is taken care of. I got my tux, and it's not that funky but i'm thinkin i'll look good. Ms. Everything helped me pick it out so it should look aight. It's gonna be cold and I still need a garment bag and some dry cleaning done but thats aight. Today was pretty okay. Missing breakfast, cranked out my design shite, and took off early. i think my overtime is now coming into check as bitches in higher positions seem to be gunning for me for personal reasons. We'll see. Fuck em. I'll quit, look for another job for a short time and then move to austin. sounds good to me. i want us done with LA, honestly. It might be stress (there were a ton of new grey hairs this morning-a ton), it might be proximity, but i want out after some museums and concerts and maybe some diving. Good thing is this weekend is the Taschen warehouse sale and then SF on sunday. Unfortunately I'm missing Mammoth with the millahs and the mates and we wanted to take the dogs but they'll be back in time for us leaving so doof will have some companionship.

aight i'm done with my stream of thought writing and i think you're updated.

yeah i found it

The only thing worse than having to poo at work, is pooing in relative privacy and then having someone come in and join you in mutual constitutional. Not only that but listening to them grunt and pass quiet airy gas. Yes it is so bad i had to share it. I was wishing i had my ipod with me to tune it out as the daily funnies weren't doing it.

shit you outta see me web design on drugs

okie doke

I know, all you throngs of followers. You thought i was dead, or in the hospital or kidnapped by insurgents or held up for spewing antigovernment drivel. Nope just not in the mood to write.

Lessee to cover it all xmas was cool, i still have a bit of shopping to do for ms everything cause we were supposed to do xmas in february and she just up and got me my gift the day after xmas. Got my nephews some lightsabers that i wish i kept cause they're cool and probably broken now. and got me a new gee-tar. Fun getting my fingers all beat up again. New Years we went down to the LBC and saw master Deans new place. Really nice and right next to the beach and some kick ass nice houses on Shoreline. Word of advice tho, don't eat at Rockbottom Grill. It really lives up to the name. No food from the menu and what they did have wasn't really good. It's a brewery and their beers aren't that good and they tried to charge us for nonalcoholic drinks even for the dezi-drivers. Either way the food sucked.

I got sick the night of New years day and felt like ass for a coupla days but work is letting me work a flex schedule so its nice waking up late and walking the dog and reviewing the newspaper and rolling in when traffic dies down. Then i'm already poppin when i get in and work after everyone has done their standing around talking thing and i work straight through that, after everyone leaves and then crank my music in the empty office. Perfection other than the fact my dog had to sit outside in the cold rain cause my roommate doesn't ever let him in the house when he's home. Thats another disgruntled story that I'm not going to share here cause i have not a single good thing to say about it. in fact i have quite a few really nasty things to say but again i digress.

This weekend is going to be spent with ms everything and her pooch on a weekendlong double date filled with muchas smoochas and some moviewatching in a somewhat voluntary sequestered state. Might have to go see Saul Bass at the Skirball and might have to go see Pan's Labrynth (after I pick up my medicine-cause i'm not seeing that sober i tell ya). Thats about it until i get back into all my links and shite. I get to go to San Fran for a work thing and stay in a nice hotel (hopefully in a room by myself) and do some shopping and hopefully museum going.

Other news we're considering a move to Texas...YES TEXAS. Austin is a pretty cool place which is one of a few places i've cosidered moving. I'm contemplating all the things i would miss. the ocean, my beloved museums and some of my dearest family and friends. But as i get closer to wanting to actually buy a house, i realize it's pretty difficult to afford one here. Austin is pretty forward thinking and has a kickass music scene and is actually pretty. The more important thing is that there are midcentury homes there starting from $265k. Thats a 1/3 less than here. Dunno, we're going to plan a fact finding trip out there to investigate the options. Thats about it on this front. I love designing full time but hate my job. Theres no clear direction and the people making the requests for design are the ones dictating the look even though they're not supposed to and they're sending this backassward company on the same course of crap looks. Either way my first comps are my nicest and those are going into my book so hopefully i'm only doing this through the summer. We'll see, stay tuned i might write more often than I have been.

yes...some have in fact told me I AM enchanting

Damn I look good with horns.
